American Health Lawyers Association Convener Session
Vorys attorneys Suzanne Scrutton and Evelyn Stratton participated in a convener session hosted by the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) on April 24, 2019 in Washington, D.C. The convener session focused on an examination of state behavioral health laws and behavioral health civil commitment laws and was funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). AHLA convener sessions bring together national thought leaders and experts in a neutral forum for the candid exchange of views and analysis.
Scrutton’s practice focuses on advising clients in the behavioral health arena. She is also the chair of the AHLA’s Behavioral Health Task Force. Stratton is a former Ohio Supreme Court Justice, regularly advises clients on litigation matters and was instrumental to the establishment of Ohio’s Mental Health courts. The AHLA will then put together a white paper on the challenges and solutions that SAMHSA will use to inform policies in this area.
