Eleven Vorys Attorneys Named 2012 “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers®

Charles S. DeRousie has been named the Columbus Financial Services Regulation Law Lawyer of the Year. He is a member of the firm’s corporate and finance and health care practice groups. DeRousie counsels banks, bank holding companies, health care organizations, and other businesses on regulatory compliance, interaction with government entities, mergers, acquisitions and all aspects of their business, transactional and regulatory relationships.
Mary Ellen Fairfield has been named the Columbus Litigation - Labor & Employment Lawyer of the Year. She is a member of the firm’s litigation group. Her practice includes the defense of all types of civil litigation, including employment and business and commercial disputes.
James P. Kennedy has been named the Columbus Antitrust Law Lawyer of the Year. He practices in the areas of antitrust litigation, white collar crime and complex commercial litigation. He has successfully defended a Japanese citizen and defendant in a case involving the federal government’s investigation of the Lysine market and has served as counsel for a major company in multi-district litigation involving alleged price fixing in the pharmaceutical industry.
Suzanne K. Richards has been named the Columbus Employment Law - Management Lawyer of the Year. She is a member of the firm’s litigation practice group and engages primarily in business and employment litigation. Richards has worked with a national client for over ten years, representing them in mediations and in arbitrations as part of their alternative dispute resolution program.
Thomas B. Ridgley has been named the Columbus Bet-the-Company Litigation Lawyer of the Year. He is a member of the firm’s litigation group. During his career, Ridgley has defended clients in numerous class action lawsuits arising from alleged securities violations, employment practices, wage and hour practices, environmental toxic torts, and claimed violations of consumer protection laws.
Thomas E. Szykowny has been named the Columbus Insurance Law Lawyer of the Year. He is a member of the firm’s corporate and finance practice group. Szykowny concentrates his practice on insurance regulatory and transactional matters as well as general business and corporate transactional matters.

Daniel J. Buckley has been named the Cincinnati Personal Injury Litigation Lawyer of the Year. He is a member of the firm’s a litigation group and practices in the areas of business litigation, complex litigation, class actions and probate and fiduciary litigation.
Michael G. Schwartz has been named the Cincinnati Tax Law Lawyer of the Year. He is a member of the firm’s probate and tax practice group and represents individuals and closely held businesses in all facets of estate and business planning.
Glenn V. Whitaker has been named the Cincinnati Personal Injury Litigation - Plaintiffs Lawyer of the Year. He is a member of the firm’s a litigation group and practices general litigation with an emphasis on the representation of individuals and corporations in complex civil litigation and criminal proceedings. Whitaker’s expertise includes qui tam and false claims litigation, class actions, business litigation, government procurement, environmental and toxic tort litigation.

James J. McMonagle has been named the Cleveland Arbitration Lawyer of the Year. He is a member of the firm’s corporate and finance and litigation practice groups. McMonagle has been involved with the mediation and arbitration of complex cases throughout the United States, including tort business, securities and employment litigation as well as unwinding and restructuring businesses as a result of unexpected market changes
