Ingram Quoted in Hannah Report Story on Ohio Controlling Board Discussion on Funding for ODNR Litigation
Bruce Ingram, a partner in the Columbus office and a member of the Vorys litigation group, was quoted in a Hannah Report story titled “Controlling Board Hears Labor Contract, Clears ODNR Litigation Cost Request.” The story highlighted the questions that Representative Kevin Boyce raised during an Ohio Controlling Board meeting regarding a request from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) for $2 million to pay for pending litigation costs in regards to the department’s ongoing litigation with landowners around Grand Lake St. Marys.
The story states:
“Bruce Ingram, a partner at Vorys and legal counsel for landowners involved in the litigation with ODNR, issued a statement later on Monday about the agency's request.
‘ODNR and Director Zehringer continue to ask the Controlling Board to rubber stamp their spending millions of taxpayer dollars on legal services fighting Ohio farmers and landowners who won the right to compensation for ODNR’s frequent, severe and inevitably recurring flooding of their property,’ Ingram said.
‘At today’s Controlling Board Meeting, Rep. Boyce made a simple ask for more information and to hold ODNR’s request for nearly $2 million for a mere three weeks. Rather than accept Rep. Boyce’s reasonable request, ODNR’s representative rejected it and, in answering Rep. Boyce’s questions, repeatedly misrepresented how much the department has spent, what their liability is, what courts have said about their arguments and their willingness to resolve these cases. The farmers and landowners of this state deserve better than the continuing mistreatment by this administration and its disregard for their constitutional property rights.’”
