Norman Quoted in Environmental Law360 Story Titled “Brownfield Redevelopment Evolving As Savvy Grows”
Mark Norman, a partner in the Vorys Cincinnati office and a member of the environmental group, was quoted extensively in an Environmental Law360 story on brownfield redevelopment.
The story states:
“And Mark Norman, a partner at Vorys Sater Seymour and Pease LLP, said there are different types of risks those involved in a brownfield development that developers need to account for, each of which can be mitigated by a well-done analysis.
The first is the risk that work will start on a project and then a previously unidentified environmental issue will surface, causing a work slowdown or stoppage. The second is that a lender may balk at providing funding because they see something in the process that indicates a poorly, hastily or superficially done analysis.
And the third is what Norman called the project marketability risk — the risk that a project is completed but a new contaminant gets the attention of regulators or new standards are implemented, creating an issue with the public perception of the project’s safety.”
