Property Development Litigation in Powell Ends with $1.8M Settlement
A Vorys client, Powell Crossing, was recently featured in an ABC6 story titled “Powell to Pay $1.8 Million for Lawsuit, $950K to Come From Taxpayer Money.” According to the story, the settlement ends three years of litigation between the city and the developer. The lawsuit was filed by the developer after the city council approved the Powell Crossing development but then Powell residents voted for an amendment in 2014 that prohibited the high density housing. A federal judge ruled against the constitutionality of the amendment in 2016 and the settlement was approved on September 19, 2017.
