Vorys Attorneys Included in Cleveland Plain Dealer Story Titled “FirstEnergy Solutions' ‘Polar Vortex' Surcharge Now Showing up in Commercial Customer Bills”
Two Vorys attorneys were included in a Cleveland Plain Dealer story regarding FirstEnergy Solutions commercial customer bills, which now include a surcharge to cover the costs incurred for extra power plants ordered into operation twice in January 2014 during widespread subzero temperatures. The Vorys attorneys represent the Ohio Manufacturers' Association, who are fighting the charge.
The story states:
“Arguing on behalf of the association, attorneys Howard Petricoff and Gretchen Petrucci, of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, urged the PUCO not to draw up a raft of new rules crippling the business of the independent power companies.
Instead they urged the commission to hold as many hearings as necessary to get to the bottom of the current situation.
If any independent supplier has misled customers, they argued, that company ‘should make restitution to the customers harmed and be penalized. That is not the easy path, but it is the road that will lead to a robust market with a variety of products and services, and efficient prices,’ they wrote.”
