Coniglio Named Co-Chair of Vorys’ Bankruptcy Group
Kari Balog Coniglio, a partner in the Vorys Cleveland office, has been named the co-chair of the firm’s bankruptcy and creditors’ rights group. She will serve as co-chair alongside Tiffany Strelow Cobb, a partner in the firm’s Columbus office. Together, Coniglio and Cobb compliment each other to strengthen client service.
Coniglio has extensive experience representing financial institutions and other secured lenders, unsecured creditors, trustees, debtors, and committees in chapter 11 and 7 bankruptcy cases, and in related litigation on a national basis. She also regularly represents clients in loan restructurings and workouts and other creditors’ rights matters including receiverships, foreclosures, and dissolution proceedings. Most recently, Coniglio successfully protected a HUD-insured lender from having its statutorily required first-priority mortgage lien from being non-consensually primed to secure post-petition financing in a large and complex case involving more than 80 separate skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. In 2024, Coniglio was named among the Notable Women in Law by Crain’s Cleveland Business. She is consistently named one of the Best Lawyers in America, in both the bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights / insolvency and reorganization law category and also in commercial litigation.
Attorneys from the Vorys bankruptcy and creditors’ rights group have advised clients in hundreds of matters addressing all aspects of bankruptcy law, corporate reorganizations, in-court and out-of-court debt restructurings and asset protection and recovery, as well as debtor and creditor matters. The team also regularly facilitates the development and implementation of “workout” strategies for troubled loans, including multimillion-dollar credit facilities, asset-based loans, letter of credit financing and standard commercial loans.
