Vorys Joins Advancing Diversity Across Patent Teams
Vorys is proud to announce that we have partnered with Advancing Diversity Across Patent Teams (ADAPT). ADAPT is a collection of corporate legal teams, law firms and industry groups who came together to brainstorm ways to increase diversity, equity and inclusion within the intellectual property (IP) profession.
"At Vorys, diversity, equity and inclusion are not only long-standing core values, but also key strategic priorities. We are a better, stronger law firm, and a more effective legal and business partner, when we recognize the value of diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives,” said Jolie Havens, a Vorys partner and the firm’s chief diversity and inclusion officer.
Joining ADAPT is another way that the Vorys IP group will work to increase diversity in the patent space. Additional Vorys IP diversity initiatives include the Vorys Scientific Advisor and Patent (SAPA) Initiative and the Vorys Initiative for Diversity in Intellectual Property, which is a program designed to help Vorys clients who are looking to break down barriers and increase diversity in the company’s innovation ecosphere including diversifying the pool of talent and inventors in IP.
“We are excited to collaborate with like-minded organizations like ADAPT that share in our mission to further diversify the IP industry,” said Carey Jordan, chair of the Vorys IP group.
In addition to the IP-specific diversity initiatives, Vorys has several active affinity groups and the George Corey Memorial Scholarship, which offers scholarships for diverse law students whose spirit, drive and commitment lead them to pursue a career at Vorys while also demonstrating leadership and being “difference makers” in their communities and/or schools.
