Client Alert: Proposed Accountable Care Organization Regulation Published

On March 31, 2011, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (“CMS”) released a notice of public rulemaking for the long awaited proposed regulations to implement the Medicare Shared Savings Program for Accountable Care Organizations (the “Regulation”), created in last year’s landmark Health Reform legislation. As with all proposed rulemaking, the Regulation is published in the Federal Register on April 7, 2011, and will be subject to a public notice and comment period prior to issuance of the final rule by CMS. Comments must be submitted on or before 5 p.m. EST on June 6, 2011.
