Ohio Statehouse Update: Governor Signs Budget Into Law
On June 27, 2011, after more than three months of testimony and intense deliberation, a conference committee of the House and Senate reported out a compromise version of House Bill 153, the state operating budget for fiscal years 2012 and 2013, by a 4-2 party-line vote. That was followed by Senate approval of the conference committee report on June 28th by a largely party-line vote of 22-11. On June 29th the House approved the conference committee report by a party-line vote of 59-40. Governor Kasich signed the budget bill on June 30th just ahead of the deadline for the July 1, 2011 start of the state’s new fiscal year.
